The same type of policies for general car insurance exists purely for the commercial vehicle. There are basic differences in that a commercial vehicle will usually be travelling with either tools or goods for commercial sale or use. This makes the contents of the vehicle of high value and the wear and tear on the vehicle is likely to exceed that of a family car.
Some insurers will only agree to quote if you are going to insure more than four vehicles with them. They will offer comprehensive, third party and fire and theft polices.
The van may also have special internal fittings to secure its cargo which would need replacing or repairing in the case of an accident.
If the vehicle is in an accident or is rendered un road worthy the policy could cover for a replacement vehicle or include a roadside recovery endorsement. The cover could extend to spare parts and accessories.
Some insurers will offer to;
Pay for your van to be repaired
Injury to you or your partner
Replacement locks
Medical expenses
Personal belongings
Emergency medical treatment
Pay off the balance owed on the van to the owner described in the vans documentation – ie the hire purchase company.
Pay the cost of replacing the glass in the van's windscreen
